Oracle has a function by the name, LOWER used to convert the string characters to the lower case alphabets.

Syntax: LOWER(str)

Ex1: LOWER(‘EGG’)
This returns ‘egg’ as the result.

This returns ‘egghead’ as the result

Note: While comparing the values from other source with the values in the columns using LIKE, LOWER can be used to compare irrespective of the case sensitivity.
