This explains how to find the length of the string in oracle

Oracle has a function by the name, LENGTH used to find the length of the given string. It gives null if the input string is null or empty

Syntax: LENGTH(str)

Ex1: LENGTH(‘eggheadcafe forum’)
This returns 17 as the result.

Ex2: LENGTH (‘’)
This returns NULL as the result
