Performance tip while using COUNT function in Query

This explains how to use count function in sql query for better performance.

COUNT function in oracle get gets the number of rows in the query. We can improve the performance of the query involving COUNT function by using COUNT(1) instead of column list or * (which brings all the columns) in the COUNT function.


EX: SELECT COUNT(1) FROM emp where sal > 10000
