JavaScript - How to create Shell Script without ActiveXObject from javascript?

Asked By vsd on 19-Sep-13 04:19 AM
Here is my code...

var ls_shortdate;
    var svar = new ActiveXObject("WScript.Shell");
    ls_shortdate = svar.RegRead("HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Control Panel\\International\\sShortDate");

This Code works fine in IE. But for other browsers like chrome, firefox, etc., ActiveXObject is not supported. Is there any Solution? Please Help....

No can do.  That is a COM object and needs to be activated via ActiveX.  Can't use it outside of IE.  In fact, many companies block the use of WScript.Shell and a wide variety of other ActiveX activated objects.  Reading from the registry is a huge security risk and just isn't going to happen on the machines of other people who have reasonably good security settings.
